My New Etsy Shop

Okay, I did it!! I am official now. I have posted a new store at Etsy. Here is the link: Whitney's Cards & Gifts

I have posted a bunch of card sets and will be posting my hair bows soon. If you have special orders or see something you like but want another color, contact me through the store.

I think this will be fun!!

Craft Show Cards

I signed up to be in a craft show this past weekend. I did pretty well, came out with $100 in my pocket to fuel my paper addiction!! I had made individual cards like these:

And card sets of four:

And hair bows! I made these last year and had intended to sell them on line and at a local shop. I never got around to it and so Kenneth suggested that I take them with us and see if they sell. He made the peg board display for me and they sold like gangbusters!

And I also sold my zucchini relish (tastes just like pickle relish). I sold all but two jars and those I gave to my mom when she came by.

The individual cards didn't sell as well as I would have thought and I probably won't put these out next time. The card sets are the way to go as well as the hair bows. That is where I made most of my money. I actually got a couple orders for a few card sets too!

Well, now I have a bunch of cards left over and card sets. So I am officially opening an etsy store to sell my wares!! Card sets are $10-$12.50 and hairbows are $4.50 each! Once I get it all up an running I will post a link to the etsy site. I am signed up for another craft show Labor Day weekend too and plan to do a few more in the fall.

Zucchini zucchini

coming out my ears. We have just had our first harvest of zucchini from our garden. This year I haven't been as motivated as I have in the past years. We didn't go strawberry picking at all this year. I didn't can any strawberry jam. We have our garden but it is really on auto pilot now.

But we just got our first harvest and I know I have a bushel of zucchini!! I need to pull out my cheese grater and make some zucchini bread and then make some for the neighbors, then freeze some that is grated for bread later. I also need to pull up that recipe for the squash pickles and make relish again.... now where did I post that thing???

Seasons of the year

Fall and Winter seem to be the times of the year where I tend to pick up knitting, crocheting, and yarn projects. Spring and summer are the times I lean towards scrapbooking and paper crafts. I figure it is natural and normal, plus it gives me variety through the year.

But this past week I have picked back up my knitting. I reached for it because I knew I couldn't take my scrapbooking with me to spend the weekend camping but could maybe do a little knitting. So I found myself dusting off the sticks with a quick little project. It is a dishcloth. Nothing big and mostly all knits. It is the traditional pattern K2 YO K to the end for a while and then K1, K2 together, YO, K2 together and K to the end. until you reduce to three and tie off. I love these little guys. They are great for dish cleaning, body cleaning and house cleaning. I use 100% cotton yarn and it makes for easy washing. The only thing I don't like is that the colors tend to fade with use but I suppose that is to be expected.

I will post a picture soon. Don't think that I have given up on scrapbooking. Now that I am on summer break I expect to get this Disney album done in the next week or so (if not shoot me...) and the back to 2004 pictures. Oh, I am so so behind. I envy those girls who say they are all caught up.

Birthday Invitations!!

These are the birthday invitations that I made for my son and daughter's birthday parties.

I used the Imagineque stamps and colored them with watercolor pencils. The blue paper is bo bunny and the pink and green papers are from the Spring paper collection from DCWV. The print is from the Microsoft Word 2007 fonts. I was pleased at how they turned out.
Also if you like cards but don't like to make them yourself. Check out Kelli Caslow's ETSY shop here. Her cards are to die for and she hand draws all her kids. Check it out. I think you will be impressed!
